Dominant Players in Indian Market
According to the IDC India china based vendors captured 51.4 share of the smartphone shipments while the Indian vendors dropeed from 40.5 per cent to 13.5 percent this indicate one of the reason behind the large growth of Chinese vendors in India, as they offer same product and features in reasonable price which people can easily afford. Also, rural populace keen to adopt latest technology at affordable prices as they give more priority to reasonable prices and feature more over the brand name.
Indian companies which have traditionally dominated the feature phone market, now face challanges from the Chinese players in this segment too. All the Indian brands such as Micromax, Intex, karbonn and lava were pushed out of the top 5 five smartphone rank. Being Samsung on top followed by Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO, and Lenovo. The top 5 brand contribute about 70 percent of the total smartphone market. LTE is now a default feature for smartphones in India. However, Apple remains as the premium brand.
