ELCINA has organized the 3rd India-Taiwan Electronics Meet (ITEM) 2017 along with the launch of a dedicated Industry Support Desk and Taiwan website, www.elcina.tw.

 

ITEM 2017 was co-hosted by five leading ESDM sector trade promotion bodies of Taiwan – Government of Taiwan’s Institute for Information Industry (III), Taiwan Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA), Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA), Taipei Computer Association (TCA) and New Taipei City Computer Association (NTCA).

 

The ELCINA Industry Support Desk Taiwan is being set up with a dedicated liaison officer to:

 

Provide a point of contact for Taiwanese companies from the electronics sector interested in building their business in India, facilitate business development and help in finding Buyers and/or Suppliers from each other’s country.

 

Plan and facilitate business delegations and visits of Indian companies to Taiwan and vice versa.

 

Organize business promotion and networking events in Taiwan with the assistance of our Associates and Partners.

 

Share information on Market, Industry and Policy through ELCINA Newsletters and dedicated Taiwan website, www.elcina.tw.

 

Find Partners and provide Matchmaking Service, including joint product development collaborations, technology transfer agreements and manufacturing joint ventures.

 

Facilitate exchange of knowledge and information through Skill Development forums and platforms.

 

Promote different Regions/States of India which are focussing on development of the ESDM sector and are encouraging and incentivizing investments by creating a supportive ecosystem and policy updates.

 

Support Indian infrastructure development organisations for inviting investments in their industrial parks and spread awareness about their projects in Taiwan.

 

The Indian delegation visited Taiwan from 30th May through 2nd June and also visited manufacturing plants as well as met potential investors. Participating Indian Electronics organizations included, among others, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), Circuit Systems India, Covestro (India) , Desai Electronics , Higher Industries , Infonet Solutions , Kramski Stamping & Molding India , Rooman Technologies , Sahasra Electronics, and Victor Components.

 

Sridharan Madhusudanan, Director General, India-Taipei Association and Head of the Indian Mission, representing the Government of India spoke about the huge opportunities in the Indian market as well as the rapid development of India as a leading economy of the world.

 

Madhusudanan emphasized the “young” Indian population with average age of 29 years and how it was driving demand and productivity in the country. The India market for Electronic Systems and Equipment has crossed US$140 billion in 2016 and is expected to exceed US$400 billion by 2022.



Vikram Desai, President, ELCINA, welcomed the delegates and elaborated on the high growth electronics market segments in India. “This is the right time for Taiwan and India to forge stronger alliances in electronics manufacturing and technology development and collaborate for maximum gains by leveraging each other’s strengths,” Desai stated.

 

ITEM 2017 GOALS

 

* The conference highlighted the opportunities in the India Electronics market as well as new policies and current initiatives for establishing an efficient manufacturing ecosystem in the country.

* B2B sessions were held in which participants from both countries interacted and explored the possibility of working with new partners, with support from leading Taiwan’s electronics industry associations.

* ELCINA pre-arranged meetings based on business profiles and interest areas.

 

The overarching objectives of the ELCINA delegation’s visit to Taiwan on the occasion of COMPUTEX TAIPEI, co-hosting of ITEM 2017 and participation in the proceedings of the India Taiwan Cooperation Forum (ITCF) included:

 

* Forging a strong relationship between the Taiwanese and Indian Electronics industries to ensure win-win business outcomes.

* Presenting the National and State Policies for Electronics industry in India.

* Presenting National initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ which offer a great opportunity for Taiwan companies to build partnerships with Indian ESDM firms.

* Sharing details of the growing India Electronics market and key growth sectors for ESDM organizations – automotive, consumer, medical, power, strategic and telecommunications.

* Arranging one-on-one B2B meetings between potential partners from India and Taiwan by sharing information between industry associations from the two countries.

* Facilitating participation by State Governments in the event to promote investments in their “brownfield” Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) as well as new “Greenfield” Clusters being developed by the Governments and private organizations.
