ThoughtWorks has launched its latest Technology Radar as part of the company’s commitment to revolutionize the IT industry. The Technology Radar, which is freely available for download, is created by ThoughtWorks’ Technical Advisory Board (TAB). Members of TAB bring together thought leadership and insights from client engagements around the world and IT communities to review and assess trends in technology.
The Radar has been designed to provide insight and advice into the cutting-edge techniques, tools, languages and platforms that are driving next-generation software development.
Srihari Srinivasan, Head of Technology, ThoughtWorks India, said, “Our Technology Radar is an attempt to describe small and large shifts that we see happening in the world of software development. This edition of the Radar highlights a fresh set of shifts. Falling enterprise boundaries due to increased adoption of cloud-based development environments, PostgreSQL expanding to become the NoSQL choice of SQL databases, a significantly re-architected Hadoop 2.0, and increasing adoption of Elastic Search are some of the macro shifts we are noticing.”
He added, “At a more granular level, we are seeing adoption of practices such as the use of promises to simplify asynchronous programming in Javascript, leveraging HTML 5 local storage instead of cookies, and database migrations for NoSQL.”
Technology Radar features includes improvements to mobile development with network testing and continuous delivery and application of proven practices like continuous delivery for mobile and framework for CSS. It also provides insights for practitioners to decision makers involved in software development.
