The VARINDIA 10th edition of Odisha Information Technology Fair - OITF 2018 was recently concluded in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The event provided a platform for the IT industry to come together and discuss some of the key vital issues concerning the state and transforming the city of Bhubaneswar smart and liveable.

The invitees to the event included IT & Telecom honchos, senior Government officials, industry leaders, VARs and SIs. The evening commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting ceremony in the presence of high profile guests that included Sri. Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA-Bhubaneswar (North), Govt. of Odisha; Sri. R.N Palai, ITS, Spl. Secy. & CEO, OCAC, Govt. of Odisha; Sri. Manas Panda, Director-STPI, Bhubaneswar, Govt. of India; Ananta Narayan Jena, Mayor, Bhubaneswar, Govt. of Odisha; P V S Rao, General Manager-Quadgen Wireless Solutions and Mr Deepak Kumar Sahu, Chief Editor, VARINDIA.

In his opening speech while addressing the audience, Deepak Sahu, Publisher – VARINDIA spoke about start-ups that are emerging in cities such as Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Pune and Ahmedabad. “As per our survey there are around 5,200 start-ups in the country. India continues to rank third in the global pecking order of start-ups ecosystem, after the US and Israel. It is largely due to the availability of talent, state government initiatives, local investor confidence and infrastructure support has been on a rise. During our survey, I visited few start-ups we found that out that they are aiming at solving immediate issues that are affecting people at the grassroot level.”

The evening saw a number of important government officials, as well as top industry executives speak on topics concerning smart city. The first speaker for the evening was R.N Palai, ITS, CEO, OCAC, Govt. of Odisha who enlightened the audience on the opportunities in Odisha, while Manas Ranjan Panda, Director-STPI, Bhubaneswar spoke in length on the opportunities in Bhubaneswar and on how Bhubaneswar could emerge as the smart city. Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA, Bhubaneswar, North- Govt. of Odisha in his speech gave his prospective on how he is seeing Bhubaneswar transforming as a livable city.

In the corporate presentations, IT Corporates shared their vision for the state and how to make it smarter. Hajinder Singh, Zonal Business from Acer India and P V S Rao, General Manager-Quadgen Wireless Solutions presented the views of their respective organizations on how technology can be implemented to make the city smart and liveable.

To complement the topic of Smart City, Uday Bhaskar Rao, M.D - iRam Technologies also spoke about his company’s smart offerings for smart parking and other smart devices.
However the most awaited part of the event was the award ceremony that witnessed the felicitation of 9 Regional VARs from Odisha being awarded in different categories of Best VAR, Odisha; Best Software Distributor, Odisha; Best Reseller, Odisha; Best System Integrator, Odisha; Best Distributor, Odisha; Best Technology Services, Odisha; Best KPO; Emerging IT Services Company and Best Sub Distributor, Odisha. The names of the winners respectively are – Nigama Comptech, Tristar Software and Solutions, Info care Solutions Pvt. Ltd, ESquare Systems & Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Printlink Computer and Communication Pvt. Ltd, Tatwa Technologies Ltd, BPO Convergence, In2IT Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Power Max.

The event also took the opportunity to felicitate the winners of the 8th VARINDIA Cup 2018 Cricket Tournament. In the semi final match played between Aabsys and Tatwa, Rajnikanta Swain of Tatwa Technologies was awarded the Man of the Match. In the second semi final match played between TCS and Exilant, Bibek Singh won the Man of the Match award. The Final match was played between TCS and Tatwa, in which Tatwa Technologies clinched the title, while TCS emerged as the Runner-up of the 8th VAR INDIA IT CUP. The man of the match award went to Santosh of Tatwa Technologies. Rajanikanta Swain of Tatwa Technologies won the Man of the Series of the 8th VARINDIA IT Cup 2018.

The winner of the Champion trophy was Tatwa Technologies who has been winning this title for 2 consecutive years.
