Several videos allegedly showing white couples expressing shock and disappointment over their newborns' darker skin colour are viral on social media, presented as real hospital incidents. However, an investigation by the FaceOff Fact Check Desk has confirmed these clips are AI-generated fabrications.
The false claim was propagated by an X user, Mariyam_MBD, on November 2, who shared a video featuring two such separate scenarios. The clips depicted mothers in hospital beds holding their babies while fathers reacted with apparent disbelief to the infants' complexion.
During its probe, the Desk identified a third, similar video shared by a Facebook page, RNT Communication, on the same day. A YouTube channel also covered the alleged incident but used different visuals. The viral videos themselves lack any credible source and have been determined to be synthetic media, created to mislead viewers by presenting fictional, inflammatory scenarios as real events.
