The Union government on Monday cautioned citizens about a manipulated video of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi that is being widely shared by several Pakistan-based propaganda handles. Officials confirmed that the footage is AI-generated and intended to sow mistrust toward the Indian Armed Forces.
According to the Press Information Bureau’s fact-checking wing, the edited clip falsely alleges that the government has ordered the removal of 50 percent of “non-caste Hindu soldiers” from the Army as part of a so-called “saffronization” program to be completed by 2028. Authorities stressed that the claims being linked to General Dwivedi are completely fabricated.
“General Upendra Dwivedi has never issued any such remarks, nor has the Government of India released any order of this nature,” Faceoff Fact Check clarified, urging people not to share or respond to the misleading video.
