Disadvantages of the Forks strategy

What is a fork

Betting on a fork (arbitrage situation) is called a technique, by applying which the bettor will make a profit at any outcome. Some players call it a strategy. Professionals are convinced that it is just looking for errors in the parimatch betting line.

The bettor must find a skew in the bookmaker's quotes and make a bet in different BKs so that at any outcome he will win a certain amount of money.

For example, let's analyze a volleyball match between teams "A" and "B". The first bookmaker's office accepts bets on the victory of team "A" with odds of 2.05, "B" - 1.85. The second bookmaker's office gives odds of 1.92 for the victory of team "A" and 2.03 for team "B".

This is a classic fork. The player bets $1000 on "A" in the first office (odds 2,05), then he makes a $1000 bet on "B" in the second BK (odds 2,03).

Let's calculate the profit in the first case:1000 * 2,05 = 2050 - 1000 (bet in the second BK) = $ 50 net profit.

Winning in the second variant is calculated in the same way.It will be $25. We can see that the bettor makes a profit in any scenario.

How to find a fork

Searching for forks by hand involves considerable time expenditure. Now there are many different programs on the Internet that automatically analyze the bookmaker's line. Their cost varies from a few tens to several hundred dollars. More expensive services allow you to find forks with high odds. All changes in the line are displayed in real time, so the bettor only needs to place bets promptly.

The player can customize the program at his discretion:

  • Leave in the list of BKs in which he is registered.
  • Set the maximum and minimum profitability in percent.
  • Limit the number of sports.

Why do forks arise

  • Each bookmaker's office cooperates with a certain analytical agency, so the odds are different.
  • Quotes may change due to progros (betting large sums of money on a particular event, which lead to a correction of the odds). For example, two betting shops put up identical odds on teams "A" and "B", but in the first betting shop the customers bet hard on team "B", while the players of the second betting shop make bets more evenly. The first BK has to adjust the odds because of the overload.
  • Analysts at certain betting shops have no time to adjust the line relative to other betting shops.
  • Manipulation of the BCs. Some bookmaker's offices purposefully create forks. This is how they set traps for players. The main purpose is to block the accounts in order to embezzle the money of their owners. Usually this is done by small betting companies with dubious reputation.
