Through acquiring VAAG Systems’ assets and engineering team, NETGEAR’s new Chennai centre will integrate advanced AI-driven network troubleshooting tools, boosting its ability to deliver intelligent, efficient, and scalable networking solutions tailored for small and medium businesses
NETGEAR has announced the opening of a new software development centre in Chennai, reinforcing its commitment to AI and cloud-based networking solutions. This move aligns with the company’s broader strategy to enhance its research and development efforts.
The Chennai facility will focus on advancing NETGEAR’s networking technologies, with a particular emphasis on simplicity, reliability, and cost efficiency. This expansion follows NETGEAR’s recent investments in R&D, aimed at accelerating the development of AI-integrated connectivity tools for businesses. The new centre also strengthens the company’s regional engineering capabilities, providing a solid foundation for future innovations.
The establishment of the centre was made possible through the acquisition of intellectual property and personnel from VAAG Systems, a Chennai-based cloud software firm. VAAG’s expertise in AI-driven network troubleshooting will be integrated into NETGEAR’s offerings, providing more advanced and reliable networking solutions, especially for small and medium-sized businesses.
New leadership to drive innovation
Pramod Badjate, President and GM of NETGEAR for Business, commented, “NETGEAR is focused on providing businesses with powerful yet simplified networking solutions. Our investments in AI and software aim to eliminate the complexity often associated with enterprise-level solutions, and we’re excited to expand our team with engineers from VAAG Systems.”
The team joining NETGEAR brings valuable experience, with members having previously worked with top tech companies like Qualcomm, HP, Cisco, and MaxLinear. Sudarsan Vasudevan, the former CEO of VAAG, has joined NETGEAR as Vice President of Software and will oversee operations at the Chennai centre.
NETGEAR plans to expand its engineering workforce in Chennai by over 100 employees within the next 12 to 18 months. CJ Prober, CEO of NETGEAR, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, “This investment will drive sustainable growth and enable us to develop intuitive, cost-effective solutions that meet both current and future business needs.”See What’s Next in Tech With the Fast Forward Newsletter
