Hindalco Industries is set to invest ₹586 crore in an integrated aluminium extrusion facility at Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, to manufacture chassis components for Apple’s iPhones. The project, aimed at boosting India’s role in Apple’s global supply chain, is expected to begin commercial production by March 2027 and create 613 jobs within four years.
The proposal is scheduled for review by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) on Thursday. Once approved, the project will fall under the AP Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025-30, making it eligible for incentives such as subsidised land.
Located about 120 km from Bengaluru, Kuppam is strategically positioned near Foxconn’s iPhone manufacturing hub, where the company has already begun small-scale production of the iPhone 17 at its second-largest facility outside China.
The move reflects Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to build a strong iPhone manufacturing ecosystem, particularly in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s constituency of Kuppam, which lies at the tri-state border of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
By supplying critical aluminium enclosures for Apple’s devices, Hindalco’s project will place Andhra Pradesh firmly on the iPhone supply chain map, signaling a major step forward in India’s electronics manufacturing ambitions.
