Minister Lokesh stated that every job created and every innovation launched is paving the way for transforming Andhra Pradesh into a global electronics powerhouse.
In a major boost to India's electronics manufacturing sector, LG Electronics has announced a ₹5,000 crore investment to establish a state-of-the-art smart home appliance hub in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The investment will be spread over four years and marks one of the largest manufacturing commitments by the South Korean electronics giant in India.
The foundation stone of the LG factory in Andhra Pradesh was laid by Minister Nara Lokesh, along with LG India Managing Director Hong Ju Jeon. Spanning a massive 247 acres and a site area of 1 million square meters, the facility will focus on manufacturing smart refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines tailored for the Indian market.
Minister Lokesh stated, “This is not just the beginning of a manufacturing unit — it’s the laying of a foundation for the future of Andhra Pradesh. This project goes beyond industrial development; it marks a milestone in India’s industrial and technological advancement. Where innovation and investment meet, the future is built.”
The statement said, “The journey from 'Made in Andhra’ to ‘Made for the World’ continues with strength and purpose. This LG unit stands as one of the first major foreign direct investments (FDI) since the formation of the new government in Andhra Pradesh”.

This LG investment in Andhra Pradesh is a key part of the company’s vision to transform India into a global manufacturing base for smart home devices. The upcoming unit is positioned to become LG’s Smart Home Appliance Hub for India and potentially for exports as well. It will integrate advanced automation, energy-efficient processes, and sustainable practices.
Beyond production, the project is expected to generate around 1,900 direct jobs and create a strong pull for ancillary industries, including parts suppliers and logistics providers. This aligns with the Indian government's push for self-reliant electronics production under the Make in India initiative.
With this move, LG Electronics India strengthens its footprint in the country and reinforces its commitment to delivering smart appliance manufacturing in India. The facility will not only cater to growing domestic demand but also position India as a competitive player in the global white goods supply chain.
