In a landmark collaboration set to redefine India’s AI landscape, Ola’s artificial intelligence subsidiary, Krutrim, has partnered with Lenovo to develop the country’s largest supercomputer. This partnership, announced ahead of Lenovo Tech World India 2025, underscores India's growing ambitions in AI and high-performance computing.
Building Krutrim 3: A Leap in AI Innovation
As part of this strategic alliance, Krutrim will work with Lenovo to develop Krutrim 3, an advanced AI model boasting 350 billion parameters. This follows the success of Krutrim 1 and Krutrim 2, which were introduced in 2023 with parameter sizes ranging from 7 billion to 12 billion and were made open-source to foster innovation.
The Ola Krutrim-Lenovo collaboration will be pivotal in creating India’s largest supercomputer, enabling advanced AI research, large-scale model training, and cutting-edge applications in industries such as automotive, healthcare, finance, and telecommunications.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Navendu Agarwal, Chief Information Officer of Ola, emphasized India’s need for sovereign cloud and hyperscale infrastructure. Unlike other major global economies, India currently lacks a robust AI computing ecosystem, making this project a critical step toward technological self-reliance.
This Ola Supercomputer Project will enhance India’s AI capabilities while reducing dependence on foreign infrastructure. By leveraging Lenovo’s supercomputing expertise, the initiative is expected to boost innovation and accelerate AI adoption across multiple sectors.
Lenovo, a global leader in AI infrastructure, has been at the forefront of supercomputing solutions, providing scalable and energy-efficient systems. Their expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) will be instrumental in building Krutrim 3—a system that will set new benchmarks in AI processing power.
The Ola Krutrim-Lenovo partnership represents a significant milestone in India’s journey toward becoming an AI powerhouse. As the nation gears up for Lenovo Tech World India 2025, this collaboration signals the dawn of a new era in AI-driven innovation and computing excellence.
