Truecaller Declares War on Spoofing with New ‘Secure Calls’ Feature

 

Truecaller has rolled out a major security upgrade with its new Secure Calls feature, a part of the Truecaller for Business platform. Designed to tackle the growing issue of spoofed and fraudulent business calls, the Truecaller Secure Calls feature introduces a powerful call verification feature that authenticates calls from registered businesses in real time.

Building on its existing Verified Business solution, this latest addition ensures that every business call undergoes backend verification before it is connected to the user. Once authenticated, these calls are visibly marked as “Secure Call” within the Truecaller interface. This visual confirmation aims to boost user confidence and protect recipients from spoofing attempts, fake customer care scams, and phishing attacks.

 

Spoofed calls—where scammers fake caller identities to deceive users—have increasingly eroded consumer trust in business communication. With this in mind, Truecaller’s new feature offers a major step forward in securing India’s digital communications space. The company’s spoofing protection strategy aims to restore trust by making it easier for users to tell apart legitimate calls from malicious ones.

One of the early adopters of the Secure Calls feature, Indian real estate platform NoBroker, reported a significant improvement in customer protection and communication efficiency. According to NoBroker, the ability to provide verified and secure calls has helped in personalising customer experiences while ensuring better fraud prevention.

The launch reflects Truecaller’s continued commitment to security features that protect Indian users from digital fraud. The move also aligns with broader national efforts to enhance cybersecurity across sectors, especially in consumer-facing services like real estate, banking, and e-commerce.
