Blinkit launches an ambulance service which is initially available in Gurugram.
It seems the famous dialogue of Raju's mother in Bollywood's hit movie 3 idiots is heard well, "Ajeeb Desh Hai Hamara, Pizza Tees Minute Mein Pahuchne Ki Guarantee Hai… Lekin Ambulance?" In a groundbreaking initiative, online quick-commerce platform Blinkit has expanded its services beyond groceries and essentials to include life-saving emergency response. The company announced the launch of a 10-minute ambulance service, aiming to bridge critical gaps in emergency healthcare access across urban areas.
Blinkit’s ambulance service promises to dispatch an ambulance within 10 minutes of booking, ensuring timely medical assistance during emergencies. The service can be accessed through the Blinkit app, where users can request an ambulance much like ordering groceries or other essentials. This medical service will be equipped with life-saving tools and a trained medical team for swift and affordable emergency assistance.
Blinkit has partnered with reputed healthcare providers and ambulance operators to ensure the service runs seamlessly. Advanced technology integration allows real-time tracking, ensuring users are updated about the ambulance's location and estimated time of arrival.
Highlighting the goal of Blinkit’s ambulance service, Albinder Dhindsa, Founder & CEO, Blinkit mentioned in his post on Twitter that the company will operate the service at an affordable cost for customers and that Blinkit is not looking to make profit from it. Additionally, the service will initially launch in phases, with Gurugram being the first city.
Currently, the Blinkit ambulance service is in its testing phase. The services are starting to operate from today that is January 2 in Gurugram. Users in the area will soon see the option to call for an ambulance via the Blinkit app. “Our aim is to provide a reliable and affordable ambulance service that can respond to emergencies swiftly,” said Dhindsa.
Blinkit’s foray into emergency healthcare stems from the need to address inefficiencies in the current system, where delays in ambulance arrivals can cost precious lives. The launch of this service positions Blinkit as a pioneer in blending technology with healthcare.
The company's existing logistics network, which powers its 10-minute delivery of groceries, is being repurposed to enable rapid ambulance deployment. Blinkit’s ability to leverage its expertise in logistics and technology gives it a competitive edge in ensuring prompt medical response. The move signifies a shift towards tech-driven solutions in healthcare, aligning with India’s broader push for digital transformation.
