
A teardown of the Gmail app for Android reveals new strings of code that suggest the imminent arrival of the feature says a report. As per the update, Chat users can apply Search Chips to better filter the search results.
Twitter users Alessandro Paluzzi has also posted a screen grab of how the functionality will look like on Chat.
Google had first unveiled ‘Search Chips’ in February this year. As the name goes, it complements the existing search filters available on Gmail.
For instance, if a user can search a contact’s name and further narrow down the search by using search chips such as attachments (and its types like a text document, pdf, or spreadsheet) and a particular time frame. The user can also use the chips to narrow down search results to calendar invitations.
A user can search a colleague’s name and further narrow your results by selecting search chips like attachment type (Text Document, Spreadsheet, PDF) or a specific timeframe. They can also filter out certain results, like calendar invites,” said Google in a blog post.
Google’s Search Chips first rolled out for Gmail for G Suite users. Later, it was made available for Gmail for end users. As of now, there is no word on the availability of Search Chips on the mobile version of the email service.
