Honeywell is creating a Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent that incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, specifically designed for use in retail and distribution centers. This innovative agent will enable employees and customers to interact with their handheld devices using natural inputs such as speech, images, and barcodes.
Powered by Qualcomm Technologies, Honeywell's mobile devices will allow for seamless engagement, making it easier for users to access information and perform tasks. This development aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve the overall experience for both workers and customers in these settings. The integration of AI in this way is set to revolutionize how individuals navigate their responsibilities in dynamic environments.
The agent allows workers to efficiently input queries such as, "Do we have the gluten-free variant of this product in stock?" or "Where can I find this particular item in the store?" Depending on the nature of the question, users receive responses in various formats, including images, videos, spoken responses, text answers, or a combination of these modalities. This multi-faceted approach aims to improve efficiency by enabling workers to navigate ongoing tasks—like assisting customers or handling multi-step workflows—while accessing real-time information.
The Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent aligns with Honeywell’s focus on key megatrends, particularly automation, and will be accessible via a software development kit (SDK) that integrates with existing organizational systems.
Nakul Duggal from Qualcomm Technologies emphasized the collaboration’s potential to revolutionize operations through advanced edge AI. By leveraging Qualcomm’s high-performance processors, Honeywell aims to streamline business processes and enhance customer interactions.
Jason Urso, Honeywell’s CTO for Industrial Automation, highlighted that this initiative not only simplifies the jobs of mobile workers but also enriches customer experiences, showcasing the transformative capabilities of AI in today’s business landscape.
