The Cyber Police Station in Jammu has issued a public advisory alerting citizens to a fraudulent investment scheme operating under the name “Golden Hike Digital Company” on the messaging platform Telegram. According to the advisory, scammers posing as representatives of this fictitious company lure victims by assigning them tasks and initially paying small amounts to gain their trust.
Once victims are drawn in, the fraudsters encourage larger investments, after which they cease communication and block the victims. The advisory also noted that the fraudsters send suspicious links that, when clicked, can give them unauthorized access to the victim's mobile phone, enabling further financial fraud.
The Cyber Police Jammu urged the public to be wary of unsolicited offers on social media, especially those promising unrealistic profits. Scammers often use phone calls, texts, or emails to pressure victims into making hasty investment decisions, typically by offering high returns with little to no risk.
The public is advised to avoid falling for fake advertisements on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook and to verify the legitimacy of any company before investing. Furthermore, sharing personal credentials with unknown individuals or entities is strongly discouraged.
In the event of financial fraud, victims are encouraged to report the crime through the NCRP portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in or by contacting the helpline at 1930.This warning is part of ongoing efforts by the Cyber Police Jammu to protect citizens from online financial fraud.
