The Indian CCTV market has been witnessing immense growth from sectors such as city surveillance, hospitality, airport security, BFSI, retail, BPO, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, retail and transportation, manufacturing, college campuses, infrastructure companies and education. The government, in general, is the biggest segment in terms of volume demand. The private sector, enterprises as well as SMBs, show potential, although their demand is dwarfed by that of the government sector. Zicom, as a security vendor in India, has been playing a major role in securing the country through CCTV cameras. Zicom is the only organization in the country to carry out a maximum number of City Surveillance projects.
Zicom as the pioneering provider of the new-age mantra for security in India, introduced in November 2012 a unique concept of Electronic Security-as-a-Service (e-SaaS) to enterprises and housing societies that provides cloud-based remote monitoring, thereby offering video mobility.
Security market in the country
CCTV business is a highly fragmented market with unorganized segment dominating the market due to easy accessibility to the China market. There are innumerable fly-by-night operators with self-branded products, making it difficult for anyone to size the real market of CCTV. Of the total Security industry market, 70% of the market is Video Surveillance market. However, the dynamics are expected to change post the new developments in the country, driven by the Modi Government.
Zicom’s role in increasing CCTV culture in India
Zicom as a leader in security business has always been forward thinking. Manoj Khadkikar, Head – Channel Solutions Group, Zicom, exerts, “While the industry was thinking hardware, we launched Electronic Security-as-a-Services because what we realized is people are not buying CCTV Surveillance, they want peace of mind, they want to ‘Feel Safe’. This is where experts like us step in and make life easy for the end-consumer both in terms of making them ‘Feel Safe’ as well as making their investment lighter and worthwhile.”
Zicom’s marketing strategy
Zicom has various ways to reach out to the potential consumers.
Channel (Traditional Security and IT Channel): For focussing on SMB and mid-market customers
SI Partners: For enterprise solutions and building solutions
Retail Channel (Electrical and Hardware): For tapping the needs of consumers and SOHO segment
Security Ambassadors: For promoting Zicom’s SaaS business in housing societies
Currently, Zicom is present in over 500 cities and towns across India and the number is steadily increasing. It is also increasing its presence by participating in important exhibitions like Secutech India.
Future ahead for CCTV security culture in India
There is a growing demand for e-SaaS wherein Zicom offers Managed Alerts-as-a-Service (MAaaS), Managed Video-as-a-Service (MVaaS) and will soon be launching Hosted Video-as-a-Service (HVaaS). Managed Video-as-a-Service is a service offering wherein it manages the health of the system. Manoj Khadkikar opines, “Our specially designed Command and Control Centre operates on a Software that automatically pings the CCTV System periodically and generates alerts in case of video loss, hard disk failure, illegal tampering of video, hard disk full notification and cable cut.” These alerts are then acted upon by the Service Team to ensure the system is operational. Under Managed Video-as-a-Service (MVaaS), the CCTV recording is stored on-site and in case of any security breach, the company’s Command and Control Centre remotely logs in into the system and records the incident in its Command and Control Centre to provide forensic evidence, when required.
