VIA has announced a strategic partnership with Simmtronics Semiconductors Ltd under which Simmtronics will manufacture tablets powered by WonderMedia PRIZM SoC (System-on-Chip) platforms in India to target Indian Tablet projects.
Under the terms of this partnership, Simmtronics will manufacture the devices in its new dedicated production facilities in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, to service the rapidly growing demand for tablets in the India market, particularly the education segment.

We are extremely excited to be working with Simmtronics to bring media tablets based on WonderMedia PRIZM SoC platforms direct to the India education market."

The first tablets to be manufactured by Simmtronics will feature the WM8650 platform and the Android operating system. Combining smart multimedia, computing, and communications capabilities with a 7" screen and light and compact form factor, these devices are ideally suited to the needs of the Indian market.
