VARINDIA catches up with Capt. Chanpreet Singh, Managing Director -Sunstrike Telecom to discuss more about the mobility business in the country and the objectives of Sunstrike of making it big in this market -
Is the Phablet concept picking up among Indian customers? Will Phablets substitute smartphones in near future in your opinion?
The concept of phablets is gradually gaining grounds. Phablets are much more easy to use in comparison with phones in some aspects. Viewing of videos in large screens is comparatively more convenient than smart phone screens because of the larger screens in phablets. Writing mails on phablet is also much more convenient than phones.
Yes, it is pitching, but I really doubt that it will substitute smartphones. One factor is the battery; smart phone batteries can run for entire day, but the battery of phablets does not run the whole day.
The low-cost Tablet market is on a rise in India. What do you have to say to this sudden surge and what are your plans for this particular market?
The experience of internet is very important and if we talk about the cheapest laptop available in the market, it is for around 17k -20k and tablets are available in the market at much cheaper rates. Tablets are also specified as edutainment, which explains that it is a device which is helpful in education and can be used as an entertainment device as well.
Middle and lower middle class families who aspire to give their children education with the use of internet, encyclopedias available on internet can easily afford tablets as they are not expensive as laptops or desktops and can solve the purpose for students.
Many parents do not want to give laptops to their children as they are comfortable with tablets.

E-retailing is increasing nowadays but still it comprises just 15% – 20% in sales. Same is the scenario with our sales in which e-commerce media comprises 15%-20% of the sales and the rest 60%-70% sales is comprised of offline and general traders.

20-25% market is mass market.Still there is 70% market that looks for feature phones. Feature phone market is different from smart phone market. Some sectors do not want smart phones and want to own only feature phones.
Smart phones are more sensitive and require more attention while handling.
Our strategy to connect to this section is by providing feature rich device at affordable price.

India is a variable kind of market. Within our market there are various sectors. The variations of phones entirely depend on these various sectors.
