Alibaba unveils its new AI image generator Tongyi Wanxiang
As part of its move to expand its offerings in the rapidly growing AI industry, Alibaba has introduced an AI image generator, Tongyi Wanxiang. It is currently in beta form and only available to enterprise customers. The AI image generator was unveiled at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference and its name means "truth from tens of thousands of pictures.”
Tongyi Wanxiang image generator will be in competition with OpenAI's DALL-E and MidJourney, both of which are popular rivals based in the United States and have a large following worldwide.
Alibaba Cloud, which underwent a major reorganisation resulting in six units, has also announced a ChatGPT-like AI text generator called Tongyi Qianwen in April.
Developers can now access ModelScopeGPT too, an AI tool, through Alibaba Cloud.
Baidu and SenseTime have recently introduced AI image generators in China. However, these generative AI services have not yet been approved for widespread distribution due to regulatory reasons.
Other Chinese companies who are also actively launching AI products and services in response to the popularity of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot.
