
The first industry wide 24 hour online shopping festival organized by Google India on 12-12-12, has been a huge success with unprecedented number of users coming online to find the best deals. The festival which saw participation from over 50 leading ecommerce companies in India was aimed at encouraging shoppers to adopt online shopping with a focus to reach out to first time online buyers.

Speaking about the response till 4:00pm today, Rajan Anandan, VP & Managing Director, Google India said, “This is by far the biggest online shopping event that India has witnessed in the history of eCommerce in the country. All our partners have seen massive increase in online traffic and some of them had already sold out their stocks by 3:00pm. The response has been phenomenal and beyond our expectations and we hope that this initiative will further fuel the growth of online shopping in India.”

As per early reports, some partner companies including myntra.com, homeshop18.com, indiatimesshopping.com, snapdeal.com etc witnessed amazing users’ response.

Mukesh Bansal, Co - Founder & CEO, Myntra.com said, "For Myntra, the response from GOSF has been very encouraging so far. As of 3:00pm on 12th December, "We have witnessed about 75% increase in traffic and over 120% jump in sales with an upward trend."
