The latest Firefly update adds precision video editing, camera motion control, new partner AI models, and a public beta editor, alongside a limited-time offer allowing eligible users to generate unlimited AI images and videos.
Adobe has announced a major expansion of its Firefly generative AI platform, introducing new tools designed to give creators more control over AI-generated video and image content. The update enhances Firefly’s capabilities across video creation, editing precision, and output quality, while also opening wider access through a public beta release of its video editor.
The company said the improvements are aimed at helping creators refine AI-generated content without losing creative intent, making Firefly more practical for professional video and design workflows.
Greater precision in AI video editing
A key addition is Firefly’s new “Prompt to Edit” feature for video. Instead of regenerating an entire clip, users can now make targeted changes to existing AI-generated footage using text commands. These edits include removing or replacing objects, changing backgrounds, adjusting lighting, or refining composition, all while preserving the original structure of the scene.
Adobe has also introduced camera motion controls within its Firefly Video Model. Creators can upload a starting frame along with a reference video to guide camera movement, enabling smoother, more cinematic motion while maintaining control over framing and subject placement.
Upscaling, new models, and public beta launch
Firefly Boards now supports video upscaling through Topaz Astra, allowing creators to enhance low-resolution footage up to 1080p or 4K. The tool can restore older clips and process multiple videos in a queue, helping users continue working without delays.
On the image side, Adobe has added FLUX.2 from Black Forest Labs to its growing list of partner models. The model focuses on photorealistic output, improved text rendering, and multi-reference image generation, with wider availability planned across Adobe applications.
Adobe has also launched the public beta of its browser-based Firefly video editor. The editor supports multi-track timelines, text-based video editing, and export options suited for both social platforms and traditional production workflows.
To encourage experimentation, Adobe is offering unlimited image and video generations on select Firefly plans until January 15, giving creators a limited window to explore the platform without usage limits.
