To enable HD audio streaming over Wi-Fi networks, Broadcom Corporation has introduced a new software development kit (SDK) to its Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices (WICED) portfolio.
WICED Audio SDK provides original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with an innovative solution that delivers audio content directly to speakers from any device connected to the Wi-Fi network, without the use of a docking station or cable. The new SDK includes pre-integrated Apple AirPlay support.
Brian Bedrosian, Senior Director, Product Marketing, Wireless Connectivity Combos, Broadcom, said, “Broadcom’s new SDK expands opportunities in the growing wireless audio and entertainment market. With proven expertise in embedded high-performance Wi-Fi and a strong base of entertainment access and smartphone customers, the simplified integration of Broadcom’s WICED Audio SDK will help drive adoption of Wi-Fi audio in the home.”
Broadcom’s WICED platform eases development and simplifies implementation of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity in an array of consumer devices, particularly in products without sophisticated user interfaces or existing networking capabilities.
The Broadcom WICED Audio SDK is now sampling with reference modules and an SDK that enables fast time to market and simplified system integration.
