Passengers at the upcoming Navi Mumbai airport will enjoy complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi via BSNL, integrated with a digital travel assistant, enabling seamless connectivity, real-time flight updates, app-based services, and enhanced passenger experience across the terminal.
State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has partnered with Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL) to deploy free Wi-Fi services for passengers at the new airport. Travellers will gain access to high-speed connectivity, supporting messaging, digital payments, email, streaming, video calls, and app-based taxi bookings. BSNL has already rolled out its 4G network, with provisions for a future 5G upgrade via firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates.
The airport’s Wi-Fi network is designed to maintain high throughput and reliability even during peak hours, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity. Passengers can access the service through the Adani OneApp, which will act as a virtual travel assistant, providing flight status notifications, boarding gate details, schedules, and real-time operational alerts.
Supporting India’s Digital and Make-in-India initiatives
BSNL’s integration aligns with the government’s Make in India initiative, leveraging technologies from domestic firms such as Tejas Networks, TCS, and C-DoT. The airport, primarily developed by the Adani Group at an estimated cost of Rs 19,650 crore, is set to initially handle 20 million passengers annually, with plans to scale up to 90 million. Final system trials and operational readiness assessments are underway to ensure a seamless launch on December 25, 2025, promising an enhanced digital experience for travellers at India’s second major international airport.See What’s Next in Tech With the Fast Forward Newsletter
