OpenAI is rolling out a year-end review experience called ‘Your Year with ChatGPT’, an annual recap that is similar to Spotify Wrapped, by offering a personalised snapshot of how people used the service. OpenAI says the rollout is limited and depends on both account settings and usage history. The feature is available to users on the Free, Plus, and Pro plans, provided they have both “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history” enabled, and have crossed a minimum conversation activity threshold.
In an interview with a tech portal, OpenAI said that Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts will not have access to the experience. The company described the feature as “lightweight, privacy-forward, and user-controlled,” emphasizing that participation is optional.
Much like Spotify Wrapped and similar year-end summaries from consumer apps, Your Year with ChatGPT uses colourful visuals and personalised insights to reflect how each user engaged with the product. The experience includes playful “awards” tied to usage patterns. For example, users who frequently worked through problems or explored ideas with the chatbot might receive a title such as “Creative Debugger.”
In addition to usage highlights, the feature generates a custom poem and an image inspired by the themes and topics a user spent the most time discussing. The goal, OpenAI suggests, is to create a fun and reflective snapshot of how ChatGPT fit into a person’s daily work, learning, or creative routines over the year.
