The National Savings Bank of Sri Lanka aimed to enhance security at its more than 300 branches across the country and CP PLUS, a global leader in the surveillance industry, stepped up to upgrade the Bank's security system from Analogue CCTV to a digital IP-based infrastructure.
One of Sri Lanka's biggest banks reiterated its trust in CP PLUS when it required to upgrade its surveillance system to capture and store high-quality CCTV digital video across with a centralized command and control facility for real-time monitoring with optimal VPN and CCTV video network at each branch.
The Challenge:
Maintaining the safety and security of any institution as well as its visitors is paramount for conducting day-to-day operations effectively. The analog technology that the bank was dependent on previously, provided limited resolution, which limited the detail and clarity of the videos they captured. The old analog system also faced distance limitations when it came to transmitting video signals and was also susceptible to degradation over longer cable runs.
The lack of flexibility also made it challenging to adapt to changing surveillance needs and to cover large areas effectively while the maintenance and management issues also required further hassle. Understanding that the analog-based CCTV solution installed previously at NSB branches was outdated, the bank decided to enhance the safety of its branches and customers.
The Solution:
After extensive evaluations, the National Savings Bank of Sri Lanka chose CP PLUS technology and installed over 2000 cutting-edge IP- based cameras across its 300 branches. The IP solution provided by CP PLUS was developed to address all the challenges faced by the bank previously and also enabled improved 3rd party integration with other security and information systems such as alarm systems, access control solutions, and other technologies to offer a seamless experience.
The IP-based CCTV solution provided by CP PLUS to NBS also supports advanced analytics and video processing capabilities, such as facial recognition, object tracking, and smart motion detection. The CP PLUS Project Design Team also installed and integrated a central monitoring platform with custom alerts for suspicious activities at the Centralized Command and Control facilities (CCC) at each branch. The CCC has also been developed with special optimizations to efficiently handle huge video files through NBS's VPN-based data network.
The Result:
The IP-based CCTV solution provided by CP PLUS and the implementation of the central video management system helped in enhancing situational awareness and quick response across NSB's 300+ branches.
This upgrade from analog technology to IP has also empowered NSB to create a safer banking environment, setting new standards for excellence in banking security in Sri Lanka.
