Reverie Language Technologies has localized the Government of India’s eNAM platform in multiple Indian languages (Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, and Odia). By providing access to content in multiple languages, farmers can access the digital mandi for information like commodity trading details, commodity price graphs, and other critical commodity specific information.
Today, over 45 lakh farmers across the country use the eNAM platform to help make decisions on selling their crops. The platform allows the farmers to check, in real time, price quotations for different types of produce. It promotes real-time price discovery and transparency in the auction process, and gives farmers access to a nationwide market. Farmers can buy and sell online and get the best price, cutting out the middleman.
Currently, 470 mandis from across India are registered with eNAM. To ensure consistent user experience despite sporadic internet connectivity, Reverie’s language solutions were deployed captive on NIC’s (National Informatics Centre) server. Whenever a new commodity or information was uploaded on the portal, the APIs were called from the NIC server rather than Reverie’ Language as a Service (LaaS) platform.
Reverie has empowered eNAM portal with the following digital language technologies –
· Font level support – Consistently rendering fonts were provided, ensuring correct and accurate Indic language display for eNAM’s UI.
· Localization – Static and dynamic content like commodities name, menu options, and report generation are all localized through contextual and domain specific translations.
· Transliteration- For static content elements like farmer names, mandi names and addresses.
· Report generation – The report generated from the portal earlier had a lot of junk characters. Reverie’s solutions fixed this issue, ensuring that legible reports can be generated.
· Customised solution – We customized the database storage for better accessibility and to avoid any misinterpretations of the abbreviations.
Vivekanand Pani, Co-Founder, Reverie language Technologies, says, “We are proud to be a part of an initiative such as eNAM which aspires to ensure our farmers get a fair price and recognition for all the toil they put in. A localized eNAM portal would help farmers to make better business decisions and transact with ease, in their own language. Farmers are now empowered to buy and sell online and get the best prices for their produce, cutting out the middleman.”
