Ericsson, Google Cloud collaborate on scalable AI-based 5G core

Ericsson On-Demand enables CSPs to rapidly deploy and scale core network services in minutes using a pay-as-you-go model, eliminating infrastructure management and empowering faster innovation amid rising complexity and demand for differentiated offerings

Ericsson has introduced Ericsson On-Demand, a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that delivers core network capabilities to communications service providers (CSPs) with greater speed, flexibility, and cost efficiency. Developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, the platform leverages advanced AI infrastructure and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), while being fully managed end-to-end by Ericsson.

Launched to address the growing demand for innovation amid rising operational complexity, Ericsson On-Demand enables CSPs to rapidly deploy core network services in minutes, scale dynamically based on demand, and adopt a pay-as-you-go model. The cloud-native solution removes the burden of infrastructure management, empowering providers to focus on delivering differentiated services and accelerating time-to-market.

Powered by the same Ericsson developers that delivers mobile connectivity to billions of users worldwide – and built on Google Cloud – Ericsson On-Demand combines telecom-grade reliability with public cloud flexibility. The platform leverages GKE to simplify and improve network availability, in addition to Google Cloud’s full stack AI infrastructure which is available globally across 42 cloud regions and more than two million miles of terrestrial and subsea fiber. This will further enable CSPs to operate with the resilience, availability, and compliance their customers expect.

Ericsson On-Demand also helps CSPs add new features to their current systems bit-by-bit, without causing any downtime. Its secure-by-design architecture meets evolving compliance and sovereignty requirements, offering deployment options around the world.
