HCLTech completes acquisition of HPE's Telco Solutions business

HCLTech has completed the acquisition of Hewlett Packard Enterprise's (HPE) Telco Solutions business, expanding its telecom software, engineering and AI capabilities as communications service providers (CSPs) accelerate investments in autonomous networks and next-generation infrastructure.

The acquisition, first announced in December 2025, builds on HCLTech's integration of HPE's Communications Technology Group (CTG) business completed in 2024 and strengthens the company's portfolio of telecom products, intellectual property and engineering services.

With the deal, HCLTech adds nearly 1,400 telecom engineers and specialists across 39 countries, enhancing its delivery capabilities across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, including Japan.

The acquisition also expands HCLTech's portfolio in telecom operational support systems (OSS), Home Subscriber Server (HSS), 5G Subscriber Data Management (SDM), network virtualization, customer experience platforms, Business Support Systems (BSS), Service Management and Orchestration (SMO), private 5G, Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), digital twin technologies and AI-enabled network applications.

HCLTech said the combined capabilities will help communications service providers modernize applications, deploy AI-led network operations and monetize next-generation telecom infrastructure.

He said combining HPE's Telco Solutions business with the previously integrated CTG business and HCLTech's engineering capabilities would strengthen the company's ability to support AI-led autonomous operations across telecom networks while helping operators simplify network modernization and accelerate service transformation.

According to HCLTech, the acquisition strengthens its position in high-growth areas including AI-driven network operations, cloud-native telecom platforms, edge computing, network convergence and virtualization, areas where telecom operators are increasing investments as they transition to software-defined networks.

HPE said the transaction builds on the companies' existing partnership in the telecom sector.

The acquisition expands HCLTech's presence in the global telecom market by combining HPE's telecom software assets and domain expertise with HCLTech's engineering services, AI capabilities and managed services portfolio. The company expects the combined business to support communications service providers as they modernize networks, deploy AI-enabled operations and develop new digital services.
