HP India has announced that HP Networking has received the Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL 2) Common Criteria (CC) certification for HP Routers. This is the first time the Department of Information Technology, Government of India, has issued this certification and provided the appropriate level of security assurance.
Each day, organizations are faced with numerous security threats, from both internal and external environments. To protect themselves and stay ahead of these threats, organizations need to put in place the latest and most sophisticated security solutions to protect data in critical infrastructure.
"As organizations and government departments increasingly opt to computerize and automate their operations, there is a dependency on IT to foster collaboration and deliver efficiency. Data protection and integrity is of paramount importance in this environment", said Neelam Dhawan, Managing Director, HP India. "The EAL 2 certification is added recognition of the security, robustness and reliability of HP's offerings and a reflection of HP's ability to evolve our offerings to meet next-generation threats."
The CC security framework is an international standard (ISO/IEC 15408) for ensuring that IT/networking products conform to stringent security requirements. It is considered a prerequisite in many government procurement requirements in India and abroad. HP Networking received the certification under the Indian common criteria certification scheme, which is the national scheme and covers the HP MSR-SR series of routers. This is the first certificate that has been issued by Standardization Testing and Quality which is a part of the Department of Information Technology, Government of India.
