The Rs 100 plan provides users with the flexibility to stream content on both smartphones and smart TVs at up to 1080p resolution, making it a versatile option compared to existing plans
Expanding its portfolio with a unique offering tailored for data-driven users, Reliance Jio has introduced a new Rs 100 prepaid recharge plan, which includes 5GB of data and a 90-day Jio Hotstar subscription, allowing access to movies, TV shows, and live sports events, including the much-anticipated IPL 2025. The Rs 100 plan provides users with the flexibility to stream content on both smartphones and smart TVs at up to 1080p resolution, making it a versatile option compared to existing plans.
Unlike Jio’s traditional prepaid options, which include voice, SMS, and data bundles, this new Rs 100 plan focuses solely on data. It is designed for users who primarily need data for streaming, without the need for voice calling or SMS services. However, customers can combine this plan with a separate base plan to meet their communication needs. The plan offers a 90-day validity period, as listed on Jio’s official website.
Affordable Hotstar streaming across devices
A standout feature of the new Rs 100 plan is its inclusion of a Jio Hotstar subscription. This provides access to a broad range of content, making it an attractive option for users who want to enjoy streaming on larger screens like smart TVs. For comparison, Jio Hotstar’s standalone mobile plan costs Rs 149 but only allows streaming on smartphones, while the Rs 299 Super plan offers similar multi-device benefits. Thus, the Rs 100 plan presents a budget-friendly alternative for users looking for content streaming across multiple devices.
While the Rs 100 plan provides 5GB of data, it may not be suitable for heavy data users. For those seeking more data, Jio offers the Rs 195 cricket data pack, which provides 15GB of data along with a 90-day Jio Hotstar mobile subscription. However, the Rs 195 pack restricts streaming to smartphones, unlike the Rs 100 plan, which supports smart TV streaming.
In a related update, Jio has also revised its Rs 69 and Rs 139 data add-on packs. Previously, these packs would last as long as the active base recharge on a user’s account, but under the new revision, both plans now come with a standalone validity of 7 days. The Rs 69 plan provides 6GB of high-speed data, and the Rs 139 plan offers 12GB, after which the speed is reduced to 64Kbps. These are data-only plans, with no voice or SMS benefits.
