ADVA Optical Networking has announced that Kabel Deutschland has selected ADVA Optical Networking for its 100G coherent transport for a new nationwide backbone network. With the help of ADVA’s Agile Core solution, Kabel Deutschland will deploy 100G technology along with multi-degree, directionless ROADMs. This network will include 26 major nodes and more than 50 intermediate sites throughout Germany.
Frank Hellemink, Vice-President – Network Engineering, Kabel Deutschland, stated, "After a thorough selection process, it became clear which company was the right fit for us. From the innovative technology to the excellent performance of the 100G pilot link trial between Hamburg and Berlin, ADVA Optical Networking has proven to be the right choice. This future-proof solution is cost-effective and allows for fully-automated remote configuration supported by a rich service management implementation. We are very satisfied with the end-product."
"We are building tremendous momentum with our Agile Core solution. It minimizes time-to-revenue and significantly lowers opportunity costs. Service providers recognize the need to build a core that enables them to seize new business opportunities while radically lowering operating expenses. There are three clear building blocks at play here: ROADM technology, a control plane and 100G transmission technologies. Once these are in place, you have an automated network that not only provisions new services, but also monitors your entire network," said Hartmut Müller-Leitloff, Vice-President – Sales, Central Europe, ADVA Optical Networking.
This fully-automated 100G network is expected to reduce operational costs, planning requirements and lead times.
