Kerala has implemented an AI-powered Security Operations Centre (SOC). In its first phase, the centre will focus on securing computers and critical infrastructure at the police headquarters, city commissionerates, and affiliated stations. Developed in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the SOC will be overseen by IG Cyber Operations. A senior official called it a landmark achievement, making Kerala the first state in India to establish such a cybersecurity centre, a crucial move amid growing cyber threats targeting law enforcement agencies.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also laid the foundation stone for six additional buildings, besides other new initiatives for the state police department. Among the key developments, 30 newly constructed police buildings across various districts were inaugurated, completed at a total cost of Rs 62.61 crore.
Furthermore, to improve accountability and citizen engagement, a real-time public feedback system has been introduced. Citizens visiting police stations can now rate services by scanning a QR code displayed at every station, ensuring transparency and efficiency in grievance redressal.
Expressing concern over increasing criminal activities among youth, CM Pinarayi Vijayan directed the police to conduct a scientific study to analyze this trend and develop effective strategies for intervention.
