Maharashtra govt sanctions Rs 5.47 crore for IT projects, cybersecurity audits, and consultancy

The Maharashtra government has sanctioned Rs 5.47 crore for various IT projects and services, including cybersecurity audits of key digital portals, consultancy services and a study by IIT-Bombay for a proposed Science and Technology Department. The Project Implementation Committee approved the proposals at its meeting, following which the Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Department issued an order.

The government has also sanctioned Rs 81 lakh for a cybersecurity audit of 10 key Maharashtra government digital portals by the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Security Corporation (MCCSC).

Another Rs 54,07,500 has been approved for a cybersecurity audit of the MahaSarathi portal by MCCSC. The government has sanctioned Rs 42.35 lakh, excluding tax, for extending the services of a senior consultant engaged at the Chief Secretary's Office. The extension covers the provision of one principal consultant, with the expenditure to be met from the 2026-27 budgetary provision under the Directorate of Information Technology.

A further Rs 22 lakh, excluding tax, has been approved for engaging consultancy manpower for the Chief Minister's Secretariat for 11 months from June 1, according to the order.

The committee also approved Rs 16.78 lakh, excluding tax, for the services of two consultants engaged through Deloitte for the Maharashtra State DR SDC.

The lowest approved allocation, Rs 14,52,635 excluding tax, is for preparing a comprehensive report and action plan for the proposed establishment of a separate Science and Technology Department in the state. The committee selected the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay for the assignment after evaluating technical and financial proposals.

The government authorised the Commissionerate of Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence to take necessary action to implement the proposals, subject to applicable rules and conditions.
