A thinktank from the Chinese companies asked questions on , when most of the companies into software business have asked to stop doing business in India, then how the government of India is allowing Chinese driven hardware companies to do business in India. Last year , the US Department of Defense named Hikvision, along with 19 other firms, as being “either owned or controlled by the Chinese military”.
Two Chinese firms, Dahua and Hikvision, are reaping rich dividends. India is one of their top customers. The two countries, India and China, are at odds over matters of national interest. And this is India’s digital ‘panopticon’ problem. A report says, there are two Chinese company names Hik Vision and Dahua is dominating India’s CCTV market, projecting themself as part of the prime minister’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Hikvision is one of the world’s largest video surveillance companies producing both hardware and software tools. It is central to China’s ambitions to become the world’s leading supplier of surveillance systems. Hikvision sells cameras and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) allowing security agencies to monitor railway stations, roads, etc.
Secondly, as India has emerged as one of the fastest growing smartphone markets in the world. As the world’s second largest smartphone market, it is constantly attracting global brands seeking to expand their market share. The Chinese Mobile phone companies are having leadership in India. The Chinese Mobile phone brands including Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Oneplus 8 , all the Chinese phone brands’ market share surges morethan at 76% in India.
India is now Xiaomi’s biggest mobile phone market. Xiaomi makes smartphones, smart TVs, and power banks in India through Foxconn and Dixon in India. There were many reports also published and highlighted on the Mobile phone vulnerability. The smartphone shipment data for the 2020 calendar year show that Chinese companies control two-thirds, or 75%, of the Indian market despite a growing call for boycotting their products amid the ongoing border tensions between the two countries. A report says, recently there was shortage of laptops during the Pandemic, to bridge the gap, Xiomi Mi and Redmi laptops in India through the e-commerce .
Seems now the issue is getting heating up in the country. Let’s wait and watch for the future of the Chinese Hardware companies in India. Recent aggression by the Chinese government has impacted the public sentiments on the Chinese companies functioning in India.
