National Security Council (NSC) has drafted a policy to encourage local manufacturing brands in order to fight the security issues and strengthen their manufacturing capacity. The Department reported that spyware and malicious codes can be implanted during the manufacturing process and these may not get detected even with security testing.
Manufacturing products involves several complexities like sourcing of raw materials, duty on it, import tax on the raw materials, etc. Indian mobile brands believe that if the government promotes local manufacturing by giving various subsidies, it will not only smoothen the compliance process but also create employment opportunities for the masses. This will help the nation, benefit and combat the security threat posed by foreign manufactured products.
Indian law-enforcement agencies have constantly been expressing concern over the extensive use of imported equipment’s, especially from China. Chinese agencies have the capability to embed spyware into these equipments which would not only allow them to access personal conversations but also get the ability to shut down telecom networks in India.
With the increasing need for homegrown products, Maxx Mobile has aimed to increase their manufacturing capacity in India.
