Planys Technologies has launched its most advanced remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Mikros. The new product is poised to offer superior underwater inspection solutions to process industries, petrochemical refineries and desalination plants.
Supported under Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s (BPCL) startup scheme Project Ankur, Planys developed Mikros with BPCL team’s support and several field learnings. ROV Mikros was launched by BPCL’s Director (Refineries), R. Ramachandran.
R. Ramachandran, says, “I believe India's thriving Start-up ecosystem would contribute significantly to our economy in the coming decade. Start-ups such as Planys have developed various deep technology solutions which are already adding great value to key industrial sectors like Oil and Gas. We wish them all the best.”
Planys was also selected as one of the top 24 start-ups in the Maharashtra Start-up Week, winning under the ‘Smart Infra’ category. Planys’ technology helps dams and port authorities monitor the health of their underwater structures and plan for maintenance and repair. Maharashtra has over 2000 dams and over 50 major and non-major ports that are crucial for the economy. The winning 24 startups were promised work orders to pilot their solutions within the state.
Vineet Upadhyay, CTO of Planys Technologies, says, “We are happy to launch Mikros which we can proudly claim as our most advanced indigenously developed mini-ROV today. After understanding the market conditions and gaining experience from earlier products over the last 3 years, we started working on Mikros. We are elated to have developed a customer centric product proposition that will help underwater asset owners take data driven decision and forecast maintenance and repair. Apart from India, we are also focusing on other geographies with Mikros”
Mikros is the next generation mini-observation class portable ROV built with a compact and robust design with latest innovations and cutting-edge technologies. It has a lightweight, rugged and modular frame with extremely efficient thrust to weight ratio that makes it an engineered masterpiece. Mikros has been designed to cater to long tether lengths, having the capabilities of collecting data in very challenging situations like high depths, turbid waters and inside long pipelines used by process industries and desalination plants. These data points and the analytical dashboard built by Planys will help forecast failures and help asset owners plan for maintenance and repairs.
