With the launch of Slack Lists, the company continues to strengthen its vision of helping organizations work smarter, faster, and more collaboratively in the digital-first workplace.
Slack, the leading workplace collaboration platform owned by Salesforce, has introduced a powerful new feature called Slack Lists, designed to revolutionize project management and boost team productivity. The new tool aims to help organizations streamline workflows, reduce silos, and convert everyday conversations into actionable tasks without leaving the Slack environment.
What is Slack Lists?
What is Slack Lists?
Slack Lists is a built-in project management tool that allows users to create, organize, and track tasks directly within Slack channels and direct messages. Teams can now assign responsibilities, set due dates, track progress, and prioritize work seamlessly in the same place where conversations already happen. By combining communication and task management in one platform, Slack eliminates the need for multiple external apps.
The feature enables users to:
● Capture and organize projects, requests, and deadlines.
● Add task fields such as assignee, due date, status, and priority.
● Sort, filter, and group tasks for better visibility and accountability.
● Save messages directly into a List to ensure important action items are never lost.
● Integrate with Workflow Builder for automation and Slack AI for instant search and project recaps.
Why Slack Lists Matters for Businesses
According to Slack, traditional project management tools often fail to meet the needs of employees working in real time. With Lists, tasks that are typically scattered across emails, spreadsheets, or third-party apps are now consolidated in one place. This reduces duplicate work, improves coordination, and enhances cross-team collaboration.
During the pilot phase, 77% of testers said Slack Lists improved productivity. Marriott Digital Services, an early adopter, highlighted significant time savings in managing projects and tracking requests.
Slack says Lists can be adapted across industries for use cases such as managing sales accounts, IT service requests, incident resolution, marketing campaigns, and product launches. By integrating project management into daily communication, Slack is positioning itself as not just a chat tool but a complete workplace productivity hub.
