The CEO of Book My Show was recently summoned by the Mumbai Police over allegations of a ticketing scam. There is also speculation going on social media that the concert might likely get cancelled altogether.
Coldplay fans took to the microblogging site, X to speculate about this development. Earlier, fans who waited patiently in the virtual queue were unable to score the tickets. The show getting cancelled is only a speculation as of now.
This development took place after the company’s CEO, Ashish Hemrajani and also the technical head were summoned on September 27, who did not appear before the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW). The summons were prompted by a complaint concerning the sale of allegedly counterfeit tickets for the much-anticipated concert in Mumbai. The Mumbai Police has since summoned Hemrajani again for September 30 as part of the ongoing investigation.
The investigation started with the complaint of advocate Amit Vyas, who accused the online ticketing platform of black marketing tickets via scalpers and third-party websites at exorbitant prices, the investigation started. However, in a previous statement, BookMyShow distanced itself from scalpers and urged fans to beware of black market scams.
Excitement is high as Coldplay is set to perform in India after eight years. The Grammy-winning band, known for their timeless hits such as Yellow and Sky Full of Stars, will perform in Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21, 2025, at the iconic D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium. Originally, there were only two shows in the itinerary but a third show was added due to excessive demand.
