Uber has taken a major step in strengthening urban mobility in India by announcing its first-ever integration with Indian Railways at Ahmedabad and Howrah Railway Stations. The initiative is designed to improve last-mile connectivity, passenger convenience, and multimodal transport adoption, reinforcing Uber’s vision of building a smarter, connected travel ecosystem.
At Ahmedabad Railway Station, the country’s seventh-largest station serving 1.2 lakh passengers daily, Uber has created a dedicated elevated parking zone linked to the main foot-over bridge for smoother pickups and drop-offs. By 2053, passenger traffic here is expected to cross 3 lakh per day, making Uber’s presence vital for seamless travel.
At Howrah Railway Station, India’s busiest hub serving more than 10 lakh passengers daily, Uber has set up dedicated kiosks and support infrastructure to efficiently manage heavy foot traffic. Both stations will feature on-ground Uber teams to guide passengers and ensure stress-free travel.
Speaking on the development, Shiva Shailendran, Director of Consumer Growth & Categories at Uber India & South Asia, said, “Our collaboration with Indian Railways marks a milestone in multimodal transport for India. By combining Uber’s ride-hailing technology with major public transport hubs, we are building a reliable ecosystem that makes commuting simpler, smarter, and more connected.”
Beyond passenger convenience, the collaboration will also benefit Uber driver-partners, who will gain access to higher trip volumes from these high-traffic railway stations. With millions of travelers passing through Ahmedabad and Howrah daily, this partnership is set to transform railway-to-road connectivity in India, bridging gaps between long-distance train travel and last-mile ride-hailing services.
