Visakhapatnam’s First AI Edge Data Center and Open Cable Landing Station Launched

In a major milestone for India’s digital infrastructure, Shri Nara Lokesh, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Electronics and Communications, Real-Time Governance, and HRD, Government of Andhra Pradesh, laid the foundation stone for Visakhapatnam’s first 50MW AI-powered Edge Data Center and Open Cable Landing Station (CLS). The project will be developed by Sify Infinit Spaces Limited, a subsidiary of NASDAQ-listed Sify Technologies, one of India’s leading ICT solution providers.

New facility positions Vizag as India’s next global digital gateway, boosting undersea connectivity and AI infrastructure and it is spread over 3.6 acres of land allocated by the State Government, the AI Edge Data Center will power AI-driven enterprises and strengthen the region’s digital backbone. Interconnected through the OPGW substation and at least two fiber networks, the project involves an investment of approximately INR 1,500 crore in two phases. It will create over 1,000 jobs during construction and operations, drawing from both technical and locally trained talent.

The new CLS facility will enhance India’s global connectivity by supporting undersea cable networks linking India with Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand. By enabling low-latency data processingcloser to users, Vizag will emerge as a strategic digital gateway on India’s eastern coast.
