Vivo celebrated its 30th anniversary with the Vivo Vision Launch Event & Imaging Grand Ceremony in Dongguan, unveiling its first mixed reality (MR) headset – the Vivo Vision Discovery Edition. This marks Vivo’s entry into spatial computing, immersive technology, and extended reality (XR), making it the first Chinese smartphone brand to officially launch an MR device.
Leveraging its expertise in imaging, sensors, AI, and display technologies, Vivo has addressed major engineering challenges in MR headsets such as perception, interaction, and computational performance. The headset runs on OriginOS Vision, offering intuitive gesture controls, high-precision eye tracking, and immersive 8K binocular visuals powered by dual Micro-OLED screens with 94% DCI-P3 coverage and near-cinema-grade accuracy.
Weighing only 398 grams, the device is 26% smaller than industry average MR headsets, designed for comfort with customizable light seals and padding options. This makes it suitable for daily wear, gaming, entertainment, education, and professional applications.
Hu Baishan, Executive VP & COO of Vivo, emphasized the company’s user-first philosophy, stating that Vivo’s mission is to let “technology illuminate beauty” and build a business that endures for a century.
Alongside the MR headset, Vivo introduced a revamped imaging strategy and expanded its imaging culture ecosystem, underscoring its long-term vision of blending AI imaging innovation, spatial computing, and human-centric design. The company also announced the winners of the 2025 Vivo VISION+ Mobile PhotoAwards, further highlighting its leadership in mobile photography.
With this launch, Vivo positions itself as a strong competitor to Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, and Samsung MR headsets, signaling a new era of Chinese innovation in XR technology and future robotics integration.
