Wiley (NYSE: WLY), a global leader in research intelligence and authoritative content, has announced the launch of Wiley AI Gateway—the industry’s first AI-native research intelligence platform that integrates peer-reviewed scholarly content directly into leading AI tools, including Anthropic’s Claude, AWS Marketplace, Mistral AI’s Le Chat, and Perplexity.
Unlike closed systems that require proprietary integrations, Wiley AI Gateway is designed for interoperability, enabling seamless access to validated academic content across multiple AI environments. The platform empowers researchers to use AI for scientific discovery while ensuring that outputs remain grounded in trusted, peer-reviewed sources.
“Wiley AI Gateway transforms how researchers harness AI for scientific discovery,” said Jay Flynn, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Research & Learning at Wiley. “As AI adoption among researchers rose from 57% to 84% in just one year, we saw the need to meet them where they work—with infrastructure that ensures AI-powered insights are built on verified, scholarly content.”
Wiley AI Gateway employs advanced content transformation technology to convert scholarly material into AI-optimized formats, preserving citation accuracy, methodological context, and peer-review validation. Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), it enables AI systems to interpret, synthesize, and cite research with precision and transparency.
The platform, currently in beta, provides benefits across the research ecosystem:
· Universities & Research Labs: Seamless AI-assisted literature synthesis from multiple publishers, anchored to verified sources.
· Corporate R&D Teams: Faster innovation through AI-driven discovery across disciplines.
· AI Developers: Reliable, knowledge-grounded content streams that reduce hallucinations and bias.
Participating publishers, including SAGE and the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), will join Wiley’s growing network—creating a collaborative industry framework for trustworthy AI-powered research.
“The AI Gateway expands Claude’s research capabilities by connecting it directly to peer-reviewed content,” said Lauren Collett, Higher Education Partnerships Lead at Anthropic. “Researchers can now pair Claude’s analytical power with validated literature, unlocking new workflows for scientific advancement.”
Wiley’s AI collaborations are already underway. The European Space Agency’s Φ-lab is leveraging the AI Gateway for its Earth Virtual Expert (EVE) project, while AWS partnered with Wiley to launch a generative AI agent for scientific literature search on the AWS Marketplace—the first of its kind from a major publisher.
“Researchers have more data than ever, but finding it remains a challenge,” said Dan Sheeran, General Manager, Healthcare and Life Sciences, AWS. “Through the AI Gateway on AWS Marketplace, researchers can now access trusted data faster, accelerating discoveries that drive real-world impact.”
