Bharat Goenka honored with Visvesvaraya Award

Bharat Goenka, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Tally Solutions, the company behind the revolutionary Tally.ERP 9, was honored with the prestigious M Visvesvaraya Memorial Award. This is the first such award from the premier software association of the country, and given to recognize him as the “Father of the Indian software products industry. Sir M. Visvesvaraya Lifetime Achievement Award is mainly recognises for the Senior Scientists / Engineers state awards for scientists and engineers for the year 2017.

The contribution of engineers and their importance, countries around the world celebrate Engineer’s Day. Right from the invention of the wheel to the creation of Hyperloop transportation. The engineers have provided the vital push to human harnessing technology for their use. In India it has marked September 15 as National Engineer’s Day. This was done with the express purpose of appreciating the contribution of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was born on September 15, 1861, in a village called Muddenahalli in Karnataka. Sir M Visvesvaraya, the man who revolutionised irrigation.

The Award, instituted by Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), the award has presented on September 15 to mark the Birth anniversary of Visveswaraya and the day was also observed as FKCCI Founder's Day. The award was instituted in 1999 to honour the frontline leaders of business who have made significant contribution to the state and Country's economy and to the welfare of society at large.
 

Eligibility of the Awards :

* They should be born in Karnataka or must have served in Karnataka for over twenty years.

* They must have contributed significantly in their field of Fundamental Research.

* They must have significant contributions to National and Human development.

* Candidates should be above 50 years of age as on 28th February 2017.

* They must not have received the same award earlier.

This award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 (Rupees One Lakh), a memento and a citation.
