Bihar to organize IT ITeS Investor Conclave-cum-Hackathon

The Government of Bihar in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be organizing Bihar IT ITeS Investor Conclave-cum-Hackathon in Patna on 13-14 September 2017. The objective is to showcase the state’s ongoing developmental efforts and highlight the initiatives being taken to create a strong eco-system as well as attract investments in the IT and ITeS, ESDM sectors. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar and Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Law & Justice will be present at the conclave.

The Department of IT, Government of Bihar invites participation for a 24 hour National Level Hackathon providing students from elite institutions with a platform to brainstorm and solve real time problems being faced by various departments within state of Bihar leveraging ICT. In this event Government will announce vision documents for IT & ITES Promotion, Electronic System Design & Manufacture Promotion.

This is the first of many such events the government of Bihar has planned. The aim is to launch the Bihar IT, ITeS sector in the global investment destination map. Deputy Chief Minister Sri Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the information technology portfolio, made this announcement recently.

The state government would unveil vision doccuments related to information technology – IT & ITES Promotion Policy and Electronic System Design and Manufacture Promotion Policy – during the upcoming IT Conclave. The new vision documents would deal with development of required infrastructure, separate clusters for electronic manufacturing activities, including mobile handsets, CCTV units and television sets.

The objective is to showcase the key policy reforms undertaken by the State in the State and facilitate on the spot decisions. Bihar is one of the fastest growing State economies of the country with a projected CAGR of 13.4% during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2012-17). To further boost the economy, the Government of Bihar is currently undertaking a slew of infrastructural, economic and business climate reforms for fostering investments. With vision statements that are industry friendly and curated towards creating transparent governance, the State Government has created an enabling environment for investments in Bihar with a special focus on the IT & ITeS sector.
