Foxconn may soon start mass production of Apple AirPods in India: Report
It is reportedly that Foxconn may soon start manufacturing AirPods at its Hyderabad facility. According to a news report, the electronic manufacturer has given approval for an investment of $400 million for the Hyderabad plant. The factory is likely to start mass-producing Apple Airpods by December 2024.
This will be the second product after iPhones that will be mass-produced in India. The report also said that India-made AirPods will be sold across the globe. Apart from Apple, Xiaomi also recently started making its TWS earbuds in India at the Optiemus Electronics plant in Noida.
Apple has started manufacturing iPhone 15 models in India. It is expected that the upcoming smartphone series will be launched next month. Apple’s effort to produce iPhone 15 in Foxconn’s Tamil Nadu plant will further narrow the company’s gap between its India operations and its main manufacturing plant in China.
The manufacturing plant of Foxconn at Sriperumbudur is gearing up to deliver the newest devices within weeks after they start shipping from factories in China. Apple is reportedly planning to increase the volume of new iPhones coming from India quickly.
