Cyber Mittar’ is a chatbot designed to assist citizens with questions about cybercrimes.
Punjab Police has launched 'Cyber Mittar' chatbot to assist with cyber crime queries. As part of the state’s attempts to improve real-time cybercrime reporting and resolution, the Punjab Cyber Crime Cell is leading the program.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced the launch on social networking site X, emphasising the chatbot’s ability to offer the public round-the-clock assistance. To ensure the protection of personal information, the Cyber Mittar chatbot will provide immediate access to information, round-the-clock support, and a private platform for reporting cyber events.
“To tackle realtime cybercrime reporting, Punjab Cyber Crime Cell have upscaled and increased our capabilities on #Helpline 1930 and on the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting & Management System (CFCFRMS). Chatbot Cyber Mittar has been launched today in Punjab for providing assistance to queries relating to cyber crimes,” Yadav wrote in his post on X.
“The introduction of Cyber Mittar marks a significant leap in our fight against cybercrime. With advanced software that can freeze fraudulent transactions in real time, we can secure victims’ funds and prevent further financial loss. We are also equipped with tools to unlock compromised devices, ensuring quick recovery for affected individuals,” he said.
He further added that the chatbot will greatly speed up the resolution of financial fraud cases. He claimed that this creative move is about safeguarding citizens in a world that is becoming more and more digital, not just about technology.
DGP Yadav emphasised the human component of these technological developments and reaffirmed the Punjab Police’s dedication to the safety and well-being of its people in both digital and physical domains. Currently, Punjab’s Cyber Crime Cell employs subject-matter specialists who have been educated to manage the intricacies of contemporary cybercrime. Because of their experience, they are able to efficiently recover lost money in addition to helping victims.
Punjab's heightened focus on cybersecurity is exemplified by the Cyber Mittar chatbot, marking a new era of proactive strategies in the fight against cybercrime. Through this initiative, the state aims to foster a safer and more connected online community.
