Hyring, a Chennai-based AI recruitment start-up has developed a first-of-its-kind AI interviewer that automates online interviews. Called 'Hyring AI Screener', it will act as a recruiter while it asks questions, records, evaluates and scores candidates based on their performance.
“The idea of developing an AI screener with a "human-like AI" came to me during the COVID-19 pandemic when several companies faced trouble with recruitment," shared Adithyan RK, Founder and CEO, Hyring.
This tool represents a breakthrough in the recruitment process, as it is the first of its kind to fully automate interviews using advanced AI technology. By leveraging machine learning and natural language processing, the AI interviewer can conduct real-time interviews, assess candidates’ responses, and evaluate their skills and compatibility with a role.
"Existing AI software (models) are merely 'passers' as they scan resumes to look out for keywords and experience before it provides your insight over whether a candidate is suitable for a role or not. What existing software does not do is interview a candidate or evaluate their performance on a LIVE video interview, our AI screener does that," explained Adithyan RK.
This new AI model will effectively replace the need to have HR recruiters actively attend online interviews. While tech startups like Sapia and Babblebot have built AI software for video interviews, Adithyan points out that the key differentiator at Hyring is the AI's ability to evaluate a candidate instead of merely recording an interview.
The AI can also recommend the top four to five candidates for recruiters to pass into the next round of recruitment. The AI also acts as a proctor, which means its screening ability can check if a candidate is cheating on an interview like using multiple tabs or an external monitor.
