Apple Inc. is planning to launch a new proprietary application named Passwords at its Apple Worldwide Developers Conference Event (WWDC) 2024 next week. The Passwords app, which is slated to launch on June 10, is designed to simplify the process of logging into websites and software for Apple's users.
Apple will reportedly introduce a new home-grown app called Passwords, next week, which will make it easier for customers to log in to websites and software. The company is planning the new app as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15, the next major versions of its iPhone, iPad and Mac operating systems. The new app is powered by the iCloud Keychain, a long-existing Apple service.
LastPass is actually a well-known password manager developed by LogMeIn, not Apple. However, Apple does have its own built-in password manager called iCloud Keychain. If Apple were to introduce a new passwords app similar to LastPass, it would likely integrate with iCloud Keychain and offer features to securely store and manage passwords across Apple devices. This could include password generation, autofill, and synchronization across devices.
Expert says, it would likely be aimed at streamlining the management of passwords and enhancing security for Apple users. Given the importance of password management in today's digital world, it would not be surprising for Apple to develop a proprietary solution to address this need.
The rumored enhancements to Siri with a generative AI upgrade align with the broader trend of integrating artificial intelligence into virtual assistant technologies. Generative AI capabilities could enable Siri to generate more natural and contextually relevant responses, improving its overall effectiveness and user experience.
If Apple indeed introduces these enhancements to Siri at its upcoming events, it could help the virtual assistant better understand and respond to user queries, perform tasks more efficiently, and adapt to individual preferences and behaviors. This could bring Siri closer to competing with other leading virtual assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, which have already implemented advanced AI capabilities.
