Polycab has recently secured a significant order from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), strengthening its position in the telecom infrastructure sector. Polycab India won orders worth ₹5,600 crore from BSNL. Emerging as the lowest bidder (L1) Polycab's latest order is valued at ₹1,549 crore and it has to be executed within three years.
The maintenance contract will also be for 10 years at 5.5% per annum of capex for the first five years and at 6.5% per annum of capex for the next five years. The size of the last order on Wednesday was ₹4,099 crore, taking the total to Rs. 5600+ crores.
This partnership aligns with BSNL’s expansion and modernization efforts, as it looks to improve telecommunications infrastructure and expand high-speed connectivity across India. Polycab will be responsible for supplying cables, wires, and other critical components to BSNL, supporting the state-run telecom giant’s projects in both urban and rural regions.
The BSNL contract highlights Polycab's growing influence in the telecom infrastructure segment, expanding beyond its core business. With this order, Polycab is expected to play a crucial role in supporting BSNL’s network expansion initiatives, particularly in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) projects and rural broadband expansion. This deal could open up further opportunities for Polycab in India’s telecom sector, especially as the country ramps up digital connectivity efforts.
As India pushes forward with Digital India initiatives, improving connectivity in underserved areas has become a national priority. BSNL, one of India’s largest telecom providers, has been tasked with upgrading its network capabilities to meet this demand. Polycab’s expertise in high-quality cables and infrastructure solutions makes it a valuable partner for BSNL's mission, furthering India’s digital inclusivity goals.
This order may set the stage for further collaboration between Polycab and other telecom providers, potentially positioning it as a preferred vendor for telecom infrastructure in India. As BSNL and other companies advance network projects, Polycab’s role in delivering reliable and efficient infrastructure could drive growth and profitability in the evolving telecommunications landscape.
